Yes, it is completely normal for a 5-month-old baby to experience hair fall, especially during bath time! Most newborns shed their newborn hair between 2 to 6 months of age due to natural hormonal changes after birth. This soft hair will gradually be replaced by stronger, permanent hair. Just be very gentle while washing their scalp and avoid rubbing vigorously with a towel.
For routine care, use a mild, tear-free, and SLS-free baby shampoo like Sebamed, Himalaya Gentle Baby, or Mustela no more than two to three times a week. For oiling, pure organic coconut oil or light sweet almond oil is wonderfully nourishing for delicate baby skin. Apply warm oil with a light touch an hour before bath time. However, if you notice unusual red patches, heavy scaling, or localized bald spots, do consult your pediatrician.
